Mark Joyner – Godfather of Internet Marketing

I really enjoy Mark Joyner’s presentation on the first day of the WIS. It was done in the same style as his Simplelogy videos. Flashing graphics on the screen with him narrating the script.

Because it was done in this manner, he can’t really build a rapport with the audience by asking us questions and getting us to reply. The content was excellent though.

One key thing that he covered was how some internet entreprenuers were trying to build businesses the wrong way on the internet. Look at the Alexa graph below showing the traffic to two different sites:

Most sites promoting internet marketing products are similar to the graph with the brown line. The graph is John Reese’s Traffic Secrets website. Traffic comes in spikes (due to joint venture promotions and product launches) and they die down after some time. Visitors to the site are unlikely to revisit the site more than once or twice.

It is always product launch after product launch. With a new product launch, the old products will be thrown in as a bonus (or sold off cheaply). Trending water to stay afloat.

The majority of internet marketing information products being sold do not add much value. They are either rehash of previous materials or over-priced products containing just a few new ideas. I look upon it as a very bad case of marketing incest.

The business can’t be built up as an asset to be sold off. I am very much guilty of this as well.

The type of business you want to build should be one you can ultimately sell off or passed on as a legacy.

Now look at the traffic graph of myspace (blue line). The traffic grows exponentially and there is a certain stickiness about the site that causes visitors to come back and refer people. This is the type of site that you want to build.

John Reese has realised it too and his latest project income.com fits into the second category.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to one thing.

Content is king.

Provide value to your clients and you will natually be very well rewarded financially.

World Internet Mega Summit

The World Internet Mega Summit will be held from 26th May 2007 to 29th May 2007.

This time round, there is a very strong line-up of speakers. The speakers are: Jay Abraham, Mark Joyner, Stephen Pierce, Ewen Chia, Mike Filsaime, Joel Comm, Armand Morin, John Childers, Tom Hua and Brett McFall.

As this will be a mega event (with a few thousand people in the audience), the ticket price has been kept very low. Early bird tickets are now currently being sold at S$197 (about US$130) and you can even bring along a friend for free*.

This means that each person only spends like US$65 if they share the cost of the ticket!

Attendees will also get a special WIS passport that will allow them to attend the World Internet Summit event anywhere in the world for the next twelve months. A standalone tickets to one of these events usually sells for about $1000 (depending on the location). Using the passport, you can attend for free.

To get your tickets to this event which will be held in Singapore, you can do so at the World Internet Mega Summit website. If you like, you can also get the tickets from me directly. Just let me know and I will set aside the required number of tickets for you (Payment can be made later).

*Buy one and get one free complimentary ticket offer valid until 26th April 07 only. The complimentary ticket does not come with the WIS passport.

World Internet Summit – Singapore 2006

After four long days, the World Internet Summit held in Singapore from 25th Nov 2006 to 28th Nov 2006 was finally over.

The speakers who presented were Brett McFall, Tom Hua, Rick Raddatz, Andrew & Daryl Grant, Johan Mok, Ewen Chia, Fabian Lim, Michael Cheney, David Cavanagh, Stephen Pierce, Willie Crawford and John Childers.

Jay Abraham came as a special guest to provide the keynote and closing.

Overall, I felt that the topics which were covered could be improved. As the individual speakers told us what they did to become successful online, therefore there was quite a fair bit of overlap in terms of content.

Most of the presentations were also prepared as a presell to advanced training/packages by the presenters.

I have prepared a WIS hand written summary (pdf) that pretty much sums up everthing that was covered.

I felt that the WIS would have provided much more value to the seminar attendees if it was organised such that each speaker focused on a different topic.

The best speaker of the event voted by the audience was John Childers, who managed to charm the entire audience (and close many sales for his public speaking course) even though he was NOT speaking on any internet marketing topic. A true master who is able to practice what he preachs!

Jay’s closing speech and Q & A session was awesome and inspiring. He warned us that we will fall back into status quo after the seminar UNLESS we revisit the materials and hold ourselves accountable to greater standards, with progressive steps and each time raising the bar.

Embrace it as a business… Formulate a plan… Take progressive steps… Validate the process… Continue to improve… Use our creativity… Principle of pre-eminence…

It was great that I managed to say hi to Jay after his presentation and exchange a few words with him. Below is a picture of me and Spike Humer, Jay’s right hand man.
