Joel Bauer Insider Insights
If you have been reading this blog, you will know about Joel Bauer, a master of persuasion that I wrote about previously. This is the person who has trained people like Mark Victor Hansen, Robert Allen, Joe Polish, Harv Ekar and more.
I just found a couple of videos where he takes us behind the scenes to give us a few insights on how he managed to consistently close 27% to as high as 73% of the people in a room he speaks to.

Review of Joel Bauer Seminar
Last week, I promised you that I would do a review of the Joel Bauer seminar. Here’s how it turned out…
First, let’s talk about the presentation.
Joel is a master at building rapport with the audience. He does not stand on the stage at all. Rather, he moves around freely within the audience interacting and making eye and physical contact with them.
His presentation slides are not those typical boring point-by-point word text. Rather, he uses images and videos extensively on his slides to emphasise the points that he delivers through his speech.
His delivery is very smooth and it is very clear that he has put in a lot of effort to prepare for his presentation. I get the impression that every word spoken by Joel has been carefully thought of before and crafted to produce the effects that he wants.
In terms of presentation skills and delivery, he gets full marks.
Next, let me talk about the content.
The key points covered by Joel include the following:
1) Packaging – The importance of dressing well. Having the correct “packaging” could produce 4 times the response. Then he goes into an explanation of what different colour clothing should be used for different purposes.
2) Why you should not have normal sized name cards like everybody else and how you can make your name cards special to brand yourself.
3) The importance of personal branding and how you can use images of yourself (and your family) in your namecards, emails, letterhead and envelopes. He also explains the kinds of position we should adopt for taking the photos.
4) How to answer the all important question “What do you do?” The key is to answer with a question that helps you qualify whether that person is a potential prospect for you, invokes an emotional response and connects with him emotionally (with some embedded commands).
5) Building trust through repeat and frequent contact with your clients. One way of doing it is through the use of a monthly email newsletter (or ezine).
6) The use of testimonials to build credibility.
Overall, the content was excellent while it lasted….
Why do I say that?
The seminar was supposed to be a one day affair from 9am to 5pm. As with most other seminars, I expected Joel to sell some of his products to the audience at the end of the seminar.
What I certainly didn’t expected, however, was for him to start his direct sales pitch starting from 2:30pm! It was all downhill (for me) starting from that point onwards.
There was also an excessive use of video testimonials. These include testimonials from famous people like Mark Victor Hansen, Robert Allen, Joe Polish, Armand Morin and John Childers.
They were shown at frequent intervals during the entire presentation and doesn’t really deliver much in content for the audience. Their only purpose was to build more credibility for Joel.
Overall, I felt the seminar had failed to meet my high expectations set earlier.
On another note, what I learnt during the seminar further reinforced what I had seen from the referral movie. It’s a great tool for branding yourself and making your clients remember you. And rememberance ultimately leads to more referrals. 🙂

Joel Bauer – Prince of Persuasion
Note: This event might be of interest to you if you are in Singapore or Malaysia.
Just last week, I received an email about Joel Bauer, a top persuasion coach in the US. Apparently, Wealth Mentors, a seminar organiser in Singapore, has gotten Joel to come over to Singapore and Malaysia to conduct a one-day “Power Persuasion Workshop”.
Now, I must admit that prior to getting the email, I have not heard of Joel Bauer before. I thought to myself, “If this guy is as good as he claims, let’s see whether he can “persuade” me to attend his workshop“.
So, I went to the website to have a look. And the result?
After watching a short video clip, listening to Joel’s audio and reading the testimonials (from many big names like Anthony Robbins, Mark Victor Hansen, Robert Allen, etc) I was persuaded to attend the workshop!
And the interesting thing is that I shared the website link with a few of my friends (who also have not heard of Joel before) and almost all of them became interested to attend the Power Persuasion Workshop.
I will do a review of Joel Bauer after the event and share what I learnt during his workshop. In the meantime, you might just want to go over to the site to watch his short video clip. You can pick up one or two useful tips.
