Jay Abraham 101 – Part 2

In response to Mike’s comments, I will like to add on that up to 90% of marketing is a science and can be taught.

I’m not quite sure we can have step-by-step methods, since every business is different and different methods might achieve different results. But your profits will definitely increase if you continually learn new methods and apply them to your business.

A single blog post is definitely insufficient to condense into a template all the teachings of Jay Abraham. Rather, I had tried to cover the fundamentals to get the reader thinking.

As an example, let us look at increasing of number of clients via lead generation. What are the methods that you can use? Referrals, telemarketing, direct mail, print advertising, tradeshows, etc.

There are companies that get close to 100% of their leads via telemarketing. And there are companies that get close to 100% of their leads via direct mail. And so on. Can you imagine the possibilities if these companies start looking at other methods to generate leads?

Unfortunately, most people just follow whatever the rest of the people in their industry are doing.

Also, what is important is to think strategically rather than tactically.

Jay Abraham 101

Today, I will be answering a question from Shanker.

Is there a template for implementing Jay Abraham’s
innovative ideas? a step-by step method.

Jay Abraham 101 says that there are really only three ways to grow a business.

1) Increase your number of clients. (lead generation, conversion rate)
2) Increase the value of each transaction. (upsell)
3) Increase the number of transactions per client. (backend products)

Many businesses spend a lot of their time (and money) doing mainly items in the first category. And acquiring a new client is often expensive.

Think about it. Would it be easier to sell something new to someone whom you had already established a relationship, than to sell something to a new prospect?

If you spend time working on all three areas, you will be able to experience exponential growth in your business.

Ponzi Scam Alert

In case you missed out an email that I sent out recently, here’s a link to an article that I wrote on a type of ponzi scam that is rampant on the internet.

I would urge you to read it immediately and tread with caution should you come across such programs!

Pillars of Your Business

Just the other day, my computer broke down. It took a week (and a few trips by the computer repairman) before it was finally fixed by a replacement of the motherboard. During that time, emails to me went unanswered and many things came to a standstill.

This serves as a reminder to two issues to bear in mind as we move towards the new year.

Firstly, do you have a business continuity plan in place? What would happen if something happens to a key employee in your company or even yourself? Are there backup plans to ensure that business operations are not affected? If there are going to be financial implications, have you taken out keyman insurance on your key personnel to insure the losses?

This is one area that many people procastinate on as the effects on the bottomline cannot be seen until something happens. By that time, of course it is already too late.

Secondly, how many pillars is your business built on? If you have only one source of acquiring new clients, any impact on that source is going to affect you drastically. The more pillars you have, the lesser will be the impact. Therefore, never be satisfied with the number of pillars that you have.

I will also like to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. As we continue to build our business through the festive season, do not forget to share with our families, friends and the less fortunate.

Jay Abraham – The Marketing Guru

Why build a Jay Abraham site? I first came across the name Jay Abraham about one and a half years ago. He was having this massive marketing campaign for his super summit with Stephen Pierce and Rich Schefren. His credentials impressed me greatly and the testimonials of those who attended the summit were very, very positive. I tried getting hold of materials of this guy but hundreds of dollars for a book and thousands for a few cassette tapes? The prices of his stuff on his website were beyond me for the moment.

Last month, Jay came to Singapore and I had the opportunity to attend a half day seminar done personally by him. His presentation skills are average but his business mind is what he’s paid for. One thing is for sure; this man is way beyond my league.

Having a web site on marketing had always been on the back of my mind. If I could share some of his marketing ideas, I’m sure many would be able to benefit. A quick look at his own web site also shows that it has much room for improvement. The “soon to be added” resources had been there for as long as I can remember. At least a year! The internet could do with one more of his sites. One that is better, of course.

Well, as luck would have it, I discovered that Jay was starting a new insider’s club program. He was also actively looking for partners to help him promote his new program. I applied to become one of his partners and was accepted. Jay did mention that he would be making valuable resources available for his partners to share. I didn’t waste any time and immediately set up this site. Took me a day to put up the bare skeleton. I’m making minor improvements to the site here and there but the meat will have to come in later as more of Jay’s resources become available.
